“More Than Anything”

Focus:
A heart surrendered to Jesus desires His presence more than anything He can provide.
Scripture References:
Psalm 73:25 (KJV)
“Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Devotion:
Have you ever asked God for something so deeply that it became the center of your prayers? Perhaps it was healing, restoration, financial stability, an opportunity, or an answer you desperately needed. There is nothing wrong with bringing our desires before the Lord. He invites us to pray and trust Him with our needs. But sometimes, without realizing it, we become more focused on what we want from God than on our relationship with Him.
Psalm 73 reminds us that nothing on earth compares to the Lord. Jesus also teaches us to seek God’s kingdom first. These Scriptures challenge us to examine what holds the greatest place in our hearts. Do we desire His presence as much as His provision? Do we seek His wisdom as eagerly as His answers? Spiritual growth begins when we allow God to reshape our priorities. We learn to love Him not simply because of what He gives, but because of who He is.
Today, invite Jesus to examine the desires of your heart. Ask Him to strengthen your love for His Word, deepen your commitment to prayer, and help you recognize anything competing for His place in your life. Surrendering our desires does not mean they no longer matter. It means trusting Him enough to place them in His hands. Lord, help me want You more than anything You can give me.
Personal Reflections:
1. Have I become more attached to something I am asking God for than to spending time with Him?
2. What can I intentionally change today to demonstrate that my relationship with Jesus comes before my personal desires?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me and patiently drawing my heart closer to You. Forgive me for the times I have pursued Your blessings more than Your presence. Examine my desires and reveal anything that has taken priority over my relationship with You. Teach me to seek Your kingdom first and find my greatest satisfaction in knowing Jesus. Help me surrender my plans, trust Your wisdom, and love You with an undivided heart. Above everything I desire, let me desire You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Steps:
1. Say aloud: Jesus, You are my greatest treasure and my highest priority. I choose to seek Your presence, follow Your Word, and love You more than anything.
2. Spend ten uninterrupted minutes with God today without presenting a list of requests. Worship Him, reflect on Psalm 73:25, and ask Him to deepen your desire for His presence.
3. Share this devotion, song, and MyLINKS with someone.
Remember:
The greatest blessing is not simply receiving what we ask from God, but growing closer to the One who loves us. When Jesus becomes our greatest desire, everything else finds its proper place. Help Me Want You… More Than Anything.
