I Don’t Want To Miss Your Presence

3/18/26, 12:00 PM

Inspired by:
“Slow Me Down”
Charles Weems

Focus:
Choosing stillness, presence, and intentional waiting before God

Scripture References (NIV):
• Psalm 46:10 — “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’”

• Isaiah 40:31 — “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…”

Devotion:
Slow Me Down is a heartfelt cry for stillness in a world that constantly pushes us to hurry. When the song declares, “I do not want to miss Your presence, slow me down,” it reflects the desire of a believer who understands that God is often found in the quiet places. His voice is clearest when our hearts are settled. His presence is most tangible when our minds are not racing. Slowing down is not weakness; it is worship. It is choosing God over noise, peace over pressure, and presence over productivity.

The lyric, “Take my eyes off what is around, not in a rush, I would rather wait,” reminds us that spiritual clarity comes when we shift our focus. Life will always offer distractions, demands, and deadlines, but God invites us into a rhythm of rest. Waiting on Him is not wasted time. It is strengthening time. It is renewing time. It is the place where our perspective is restored, our spirit is refreshed, and our steps are guided by His wisdom instead of our urgency.

As you reflect today, allow God to slow your pace. Let Him quiet your thoughts. Let Him draw your attention away from everything that competes for your focus. Choose to wait on Him with intention and expectation. In the stillness, He will meet you. In the quiet, He will speak. In the pause, He will renew your strength.

Reflection:
1. What distractions do you need to release so you can be fully present with God
2. How can you intentionally slow down and wait on Him today

Prayer:
Lord, slow me down. I do not want to miss Your presence. Take my eyes off everything that pulls me away from You. Teach me to wait, to listen, and to rest in Your peace. Renew my strength as I choose stillness before You. Amen.

Action Steps:
1. Speak this aloud today: “Lord, slow me down so I can hear You clearly.”
2. Set aside five quiet minutes with no phone, no noise, and no rush.
3. Share this devotion and the song “Slow Me Down.”

Remember:
Stillness is not inactivity. It is intimacy with God.
