“Mary Did You Know”
Sandi Patty
Focus:
Reflecting on the miracle of Christ’s birth and the eternal impact of God’s gift
Scripture References (NIV):
• Luke 1:30–31 — “But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.'”
• John 1:14 — “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Devotion:
Mary Did You Know invites us to pause and marvel at the mystery of Christmas. The baby born in Bethlehem was not just Mary’s child—He was the Savior of the world. Every breath He took was a fulfillment of prophecy, every step He walked was part of God’s plan, and every word He spoke revealed heaven’s glory.
On Christmas Day, we celebrate not only His birth but the gift of salvation wrapped in swaddling clothes. Mary may not have fully understood the magnitude of her child’s mission, but today we rejoice knowing that her baby boy is our Redeemer, our King, and our Lord.
Reflection:
1. How does reflecting on Christ’s birth deepen your gratitude for God’s gift of salvation?
2. What does it mean to you personally that “the Word became flesh” and dwelt among us?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of Jesus. On this Christmas Day, I marvel at the mystery of Your love—that You came to dwell among us, bringing salvation and hope. Let my heart be filled with wonder and gratitude for Your indescribable gift. Amen.
Action steps:
1. Take time today to read Luke 2 and reflect on the miracle of Christ’s birth.
2. Say aloud: “Jesus, You are the greatest gift.”
3. Share this devotion and the song “Mary Did You Know” with someone as a Christmas encouragement.

Christmas is the celebration of God’s greatest gift—Jesus, the Savior of the world.
