“All Things New”
Jordan G. Welch
Focus:
Living free in Christ, leaving shame behind, and embracing new life in Him
Scripture References (NIV):
• 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
• Philippians 3:13–14 — “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Devotion:
Jordan G. Welch’s All Things New is a powerful reminder that in Christ, shame no longer has a hold on us. We are free, forgiven, and transformed. The past no longer defines us—God’s grace does.
To live as a new creation means to walk in freedom, joy, and hope, pressing forward into the future God has prepared. Forgetting what is behind is not denial, it is choosing to release the weight of yesterday and embrace the promise of today. Today, declare boldly: I am new in Him, I am free, I am not the same.
Reflection:
1. What past shame or burden do you need to release to fully embrace your new life in Christ?
2. How can you daily remind yourself that you are a new creation, free and transformed?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making me new. Thank You for freedom from shame and for the promise of transformation. Help me to forget what is behind and press forward into the life You have called me to live. Amen.
Action steps:
1. Write down one area where you’ve seen God make you new—thank Him for it today.
2. Say aloud: “I am new in Christ, I am free.”
3. Share this devotion and the song “All Things New” with someone who needs encouragement to embrace their new identity in Christ.
Remember:
In Christ, the old is gone, the new has come. You are free, forgiven, and transformed.
