“I Forgive Me”
James Fortune & FIYA
Focus:
Embracing God’s forgiveness and releasing the weight of self-condemnation
Scripture References (NIV):
• Psalm 103:12 — “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
• Isaiah 43:25 — “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
Devotion:
James Fortune’s “I Forgive Me”carries a powerful truth that many believers struggle to embrace. God has forgiven us, yet we often continue to carry guilt, shame, regret, and memories that God has already released. We hold on to what God has let go. We rehearse what God has erased. We punish ourselves for what God has already covered with grace.
Self?forgiveness is not weakness. It is obedience. When God declares us forgiven, cleansed, and restored, our agreement with His word becomes an act of faith. Carrying the weight of past mistakes only hinders the freedom God intends for us. Letting go is not pretending the past never happened. It is choosing to believe that God’s mercy is greater than our failures.
There comes a moment when we must release ourselves from what God has already redeemed. A moment when we say, “I have carried this long enough. I choose freedom. I choose healing. I choose forgiveness.” God is not holding it against you. You do not have to hold it against yourself.
Today, give yourself permission to walk in the same grace God has extended to you. Forgive yourself. Release the weight. Step into the freedom that has always been yours.
Reflection:
1. What burden of guilt or regret have you been carrying that God has already forgiven
2. How can you practice self?forgiveness as an act of obedience to God’s grace
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for forgiving me completely and removing my sins from me. Help me to align my heart with Your grace and release every weight I have carried for too long. Strengthen me to forgive myself and walk in the freedom You have already given me. Amen.
Action Steps:
1. Speak this aloud today: “God has forgiven me, and I forgive me.”
2. Write down one thing you are releasing and surrender it in prayer.
3. Share this devotion and the message of “I Forgive Me” with someone who needs healing in the area of self forgiveness.
Remember:
God has forgiven you. You can forgive yourself. Freedom begins when you let it go.
