Intercession Changes Everything

“Say A Prayer”
Donald Lawrence (feat. Faith Evans)
Focus:
The power of intercessory prayer—standing in the gap for others just as Jesus and the faithful do
Scripture References (NIV):
• Luke 22:32 — “But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
• Romans 8:34 — “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
Devotion:
One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that Jesus intercedes for us. Just as He prayed for Peter before his moment of testing, Jesus is praying for you today. He knows the battles you face, the struggles that weigh on your heart, and the temptations that try to pull you away. But His prayers sustain you. There’s something sacred about someone praying for you.
Donald Lawrence’s “Say A Prayer” echoes the moment Jesus told Peter, “I have prayed for you.” That’s true intercession—standing in the gap, lifting someone’s name before the Father, believing for strength, healing, and restoration.
Jesus saw what was coming for Peter—his denial, his fear, his failure. But He didn’t just warn him; He prayed for him. And even after Peter’s failure, Jesus already saw his restoration. That same grace and intercession are available for you.
You may not know what someone’s facing, but your prayer can shift the atmosphere. And when you need strength yourself, never hesitate to ask for prayer. Jesus is already interceding for you. Today, be bold enough to say, “Pray for me.” And be faithful enough to say, “I’m praying for you.” Because intercession changes everything.
Reflection:
1. Who in your life needs you to stand in the gap and pray for them today?
2. How does knowing Jesus is interceding for you strengthen your faith?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for praying for me—just like You did for Peter. Thank You for those who intercede on my behalf. Help me to be a faithful intercessor for others. Let my prayers carry healing, hope, and strength. Amen.
Action steps:
1. Write down the name of someone you’ll intercede for this week—pray for them daily.
2. Say aloud: “Jesus is praying for me. I will pray for others.”
3. Share this devotion and the song “Say A Prayer” with someone who needs to know they’re being lifted up.
Remember:
You’re never alone—someone is praying for you. And heaven is listening.
