Focus:
Loving God above all else and living a life that makes Him proud
Scripture References (NIV):
• Mark 12:30 — “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
• John 3:30 — “He must become greater; I must become less.”
Devotion:
Love Theory reminds us that true love for God is not just spoken, it is lived. When we declare, “I do not want to love nobody but You,” we are expressing a desire for God to be first in our hearts, first in our decisions, and first in our affections. Loving God above all else is not about excluding others. It is about prioritizing Him so deeply that every other relationship flows from His love. When God is first, everything else aligns. When God is first, our hearts remain steady and our purpose becomes clear.
The song also declares, “More of You, less of me,” which is the posture of a surrendered life. It is choosing God’s will over our own desires. It is allowing His character to shape our responses, His wisdom to guide our choices, and His love to influence our actions. As we decrease, His presence increases. As we surrender, His glory shines through us. This is how transformation happens. This is how we grow. This is how we become who He has called us to be.
When we say, “I want to make You proud of me,” it is not about earning God’s love. His love is already secure. It is about living in a way that reflects His heart. It is about honoring Him with our lifestyle, our attitude, and our obedience. God delights in our desire to please Him, and He empowers us to walk in a way that brings Him joy. Today, let your love for God be evident in your choices, your words, and your worship. Let your life say, “Lord, I love You above all.”
Reflection:
1. What area of your life is God inviting you to surrender so that He becomes greater
2. How can you intentionally show your love for God through your actions today
Prayer:
Lord, I want to love You above everything and everyone. Increase in me as I decrease. Shape my heart, my thoughts, and my actions so that my life makes You proud. Help me to love You with all that I am and to reflect Your love in everything I do. Amen.
Action Steps:
1. Speak this aloud today: “More of You, less of me.”
2. Identify one area where you can put God first in a new way.
3. Share this devotion and the message of Love Theory with someone who needs encouragement.
Remember:
Loving God first transforms everything. When He becomes greater, your life becomes clearer.
