“Sweet Jesus”
J Moss
Focus:
Exalting the name of Jesus with lifted hands, lifted voices, and lifted hearts
Scripture References (NIV):
• Philippians 2:10–11 — “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
• John 12:32 — “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
Devotion:
Sweet Jesus is a celebration of the name that is above every name. When the song declares, “I love to praise Your name, I love to lift You up, I bless Your name Sweet Jesus,” it captures the heart of true worship. Worship is not a duty. It is a delight. It is the joyful response of a heart that knows the goodness, power, and sweetness of Jesus. His name brings peace to troubled places, strength to weary souls, and hope to every situation. When we lift His name, we lift our perspective, our faith, and our expectation.
The song also reminds us of the authority of Jesus: “Every knee bow, every tongue confess.” His name carries power that no darkness can resist and no enemy can overcome. When we lift Him up, we align ourselves with His victory and His glory. Jesus Himself said that if He is lifted, He will draw all people to Himself. Our worship becomes a witness. Our praise becomes a light. Our lifted hands and lifted voices become instruments God uses to draw hearts, shift atmospheres, and release His presence.
As you reflect today, let your worship be bold, joyful, and sincere. Lift your hands to reach Him. Lift your voice to bless Him. Lift your heart to love Him. There is no name sweeter, no name stronger, and no name more worthy than the name of Jesus. When you lift Him up, He moves. When you exalt Him, He draws. When you bless His name, He fills your life with His presence.
Reflection:
1. What does lifting the name of Jesus mean in your personal worship
2. How can your praise today draw others closer to Him
Prayer:
Lord, I love to praise Your name. I love to lift You up. Sweet Jesus, You are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise. Help me to worship You with my whole heart and to lift Your name in a way that draws others to You. Amen.
Action Steps:
1. Speak this aloud today: “I bless the name of Sweet Jesus.”
2. Take a moment to lift your hands and worship Jesus with no requests, only love.
3. Share this devotion and the message of “Sweet Jesus” with someone who needs encouragement.
Remember:
When you lift the name of Jesus, He draws, He moves, and He reigns.
