Waiting for God’s Better

1/22/26, 1:00 PM

Inspired by:
“Not Now Doesn’t Mean Never” by Marvin Sapp

Focus:
Trusting that God’s timing is purposeful, and His “not now” is preparing something better

Scripture References (NIV):
• Ecclesiastes 3:11 — “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

• Habakkuk 2:3 — “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

Devotion:
Marvin Sapp’s “Not Now Does Not Mean Never” reminds us that God’s timing is not a denial. It is preparation. It is protection. It is alignment. When God says “not now,” He is not closing the door. He is positioning us for a time and place that is so much better than what we imagined.

There are seasons when we pray, believe, and expect, yet the answer seems delayed. In those moments, it is easy to feel forgotten or overlooked. But God is never late. He is never unsure. He is never withholding without purpose. His timing is perfect because He sees what we cannot see and knows what we do not know.

A “not now” from God means that something greater is being prepared. It means the environment is not ready, the people involved are not ready, or we are not fully prepared for what He desires to release. God’s delays are not punishments. They are divine strategies. They ensure that when the blessing arrives, it will fit, it will flourish, and it will last.

Today, rest in the truth that God’s “not now” is leading you to His “better.” Trust His timing. Trust His wisdom. Trust that what He has planned will arrive at the appointed time, and when it does, it will be worth every moment of waiting.

Reflection:
1. What promise from God are you waiting on that requires renewed patience
2. How can you shift your perspective to see God’s timing as preparation instead of delay

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that Your timing is perfect. Help me to trust Your “not now” and to believe that You are preparing something better for me. Strengthen my heart to wait with faith, expectation, and peace. I know that what You have planned will come at the appointed time. Amen.

Action Steps:
1. Speak this aloud today: “God’s ‘not now’ is preparing something better for me.”
2. Write down one area where you will choose patience over frustration.
3. Share this devotion and the message of “Not Now Doesn’t Mean Never” with someone who needs to be encouraged in their waiting seasons.

Remember:
God’s timing is not denial. It is preparation for something better.
